The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been going strong for years, and it has earned many records in the process. From having one of the highest-grossing films of all time to landing dozens of Emmy nominations for a streaming program. In many ways, it seems like the MCU is always trying to find ways to improve on what has come before, including one-upping its own records. Iron Man wins the award for being the first Avenger to get his solo MCU film, but Thor has long held a different record.

Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder is the only Avenger to have four solo MCU films. Notably, that record is about to get strong competition, thanks to Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Traditionally, the MCU seems inclined to give heroes trilogy sets, excluding Thor. This hero got four solo films: Thor, Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok, and Thor: Love and Thunder. Sure, they had their ups and downs, but it was still a record. Only one other mantle had previously gotten close to this record, with Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson sharing the Captain America title across four films. Some fans would argue this counts toward different records, and thus cannot be applied in competition to Thor’s solo record.
Spider-Man is Set Up to Break New Records

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is about to turn up the pressure for this record. Currently, his version of Spider-Man has three films readily available: Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home. The fourth film is set to release on July 31, 2026.
To put this in perspective, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is going to match Thor’s current record, an impressive feat, to say the least. A lot of Marvel fans probably gave up hope of seeing anybody beat Thor’s track record.
Here’s the thing: it gets better. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the first in a new trilogy set for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. In other words, this young hero is expected to get two more films after this, bringing his total to six. That’s going to blow Thor’s record out of the water. Currently, there’s no confirmed word on a fifth solo movie for Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, so it looks like we’ll be seeing this award handed off to a new hero within the next few years.
Here’s where things get a bit fun: If Tom Holland ends up starring in these six solo Spider-Man films, he won’t just destroy Thor’s record for most solo MCU movies—he’ll also become the actor with the most standalone Spider-Man films. For comparison, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield have less than that when combined.
