Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been nominated for an Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Special and Visual Effects for the episode "T.A.H.I.T.I."

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is the first television series from Marvel Studios and airs on ABC. The series stars Clark Gregg as Agents Coulson, who appeared in various Marvel Studios films, as he puts together a team of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents to deal with the increasing number of unusual people and artifacts popping up in the world.

The special and visual effects team worked on bringing the cyborg Deathlok to life, working on various high-tech weapons, and visualizing the unusual substance called gravitonium. Fans may remember "T.A.H.I.T.I" specifically for revealing the mysterious blue alien that saved Coulson's life.

The Emmy nomination specifically goes to Mark Kolpack, Visual Effects Supervisor, Gary D'Amico, Special Effects Supervisor, Sabrina M. Arnold, Lead Visual Effects Producer, Tracy Takahashi, Visual Effects Producer, Jonathan Tanimoto, Digital Effects Supervisor, Kevin Lingenfelser, Senior Lead Compositor, Matt Von Brock, Senior Lead CG Artist, Thomas Mahoney, Senior Lead CG Artist, and Mitch Gates, Lead CG Artist.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return in the fall for its second season.
