Amazing Spider-Man Year One Mini-Series Announced

According to Matt Moore of the Associated Press, Marvel is returning to the origin of Peter Parker in a new miniseries, Spider-Man Year One: Learning to Crawl. The five-issue miniseries will be written by Dan Slott with art from Ramon Perez and covers by Alex Ross. The story will run alongside the main Amazing Spider-Man book, with the numbering Amazing Spider-Man #1.1-1.5. The story will star a young Peter Parker and is meant to fill in some of the holes left from his earliest adventures. "When you're looking at things in those issues, you're going: 'Wait a minute! How did this happen? How did he get this? Where did this come from? Why didn't Aunt May ever wonder about that?'" Slott said. "You start looking at it closer and closer and you go, 'There's a story here that we're not seeing.' A very pivotal and crucial story that lovingly respects everything that went on but tells you more, so much more about Spider-Man and so much more about Peter Parker." Slott also hinted that a new villain may be introduced in the series, one that was possibly inspired by Peter Parker's exploits. "Someone's running around trying to be just like Spider-Man and there's no way in Peter's mind that he's not responsible for everything that guy's going to do," said Slott. "He's got his first villain who is his own age, someone that he's inspired…He's a troubled teen hero fighting a troubled teen villain!" Amazing Spider-Man #1.1 will be released in May.
