When Ben Affleck was announced as the newest wearer of the cape and cowl for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, fans were unsure whether he was the right pick for the role. While Affleck wasn't unsure per say, he was admittedly daunted by the iconic role.

In a recent panel, Affleck goes into a bit of detail as to why he felt that way, and stepping into something with such heavy expectations.

The biggest challenge going into it was the sort of the daunting aspect of playing a character whose got such a fixed place in people's minds already. I think that was the biggest challenge. I didn't get to create the character and had to recreate something and hope that it fit into people's and our idea of who Batman was already.

Batman as a whole, without even taking film success into account, is a pretty intimidating role to play, just due to the characters large comic legacy and timeless nature. Follow that with what many consider to be the iconic take of Batman in the Nolan films, and you can easily see where he is coming from.
