While it may not have been a huge ratings hit, and while many of the target audience of hardcore comic book fans never forgave it for being the show that replaced Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Cartoon Network's cancelled DC Nation series Beware the Batman has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award. The series is nominated in the Children's Animated Program category, alongside Nickelodeon's The Fairly OddParents, Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness and Monsters vs. Aliens and the Netflix original series Turbo FAST. This means that every property nominated in this category this year has been the subject of at least one feature film. Beware the Batman is an alternate take on the earliest days of Gotham's most famous costumed vigilante. In the series, butler Alfred Pennyworth is a gun-toting action hero and the Dark Knight's first sidekick isn't Robin but the samurai action heroine Katana. The series debuted last July but was pulled from Cartoon Network's schedule in October without explanation. The remaining episodes will be burned off in the wee hours of Sunday mornings starting in July.
