Final Fantasy VII has been released in the iOS App Store in New Zealand.

According to Touch Arcade, the game will likely appear on the US App Store around 11 p.m. EST. Priced at $19.99 NZD, it will likely cost about $15 US.

The iOS version of Final Fantasy VII will be a mobile port of the game's updated PC version. The game's move to iOS was announced during a press conference at E3, following the release of the teaser trailer announcing the game's full console remake.

Final Fantasy VII was originally released in 1997. It was the first entry in Squaresoft's (now Square Enix) venerable JRPG franchise to be developed with 3D graphics, and its cinematic storytelling helped make it one of the most iconic videogames of all time.

The game centers on Cloud, a former member of mega-conglomerate Shinra Inc.'s elite combat force, SOLDIER. After leaving SOLDIER, Cloud heads to the cyberpunk metropolis Midgar, reconnects with his childhood friend Tifa, and joins the rebel group AVALANCHE. Determined to stop Shinra from killing the planet with its greed, AVALANCHE bombs one of the company's Mako Reactors, beginning an epic adventure for the fate of the world.
