There are always changes made to comic book source material in order to suit the media of film and television when things get adapted--but a new report suggests that iZombie, the upcoming CW series based on Chris Roberson and Mike Allred's recently-concluded Vertigo series, may not bear much resemblance to the comics at all. There's always the chance that casting sides are misleading, but according to Ksite TV, even the series lead has been renamed for the purposes of casting the show. The site claims that The CW is casting characters named Blaine, Clive, Eva, Evan, Liv, Major, Peyton, and Ravi...and Liv, who will be taking on the Gwen role. That leaves familiar characters key to the quirky comic book series totally out. Again, the sides could have been altered so that nobody knows just what they're auditioning for--Nyssa Raatko (al Ghul) was rewritten as a new character who was a potential love interest for Oliver, for instance, during the casting process for last night's episode of Arrow, until they narrowed the casting field to two. You can see a few more details at Ksite (they've apparently seen the sides firsthand), but outside of that, we'll have to wait until Veronica Mars director Rob Thomas, who is showrunning the series for The CW, comments on the show or else until Fall 2014, when the series is expected to debut. That's Thomas above, with fellow producer Dan Etheridge, scouting locations for the new series in British Columbia, where it will shoot around the same area where fellow DC Comics adaptations Arrow and The Flash will be shooting next year, assuming The Flash gets picked up to series and Arrow is renewed (both safe bets).
