During a Twitter exchange with a reader, Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling yesterday revealed that Albus Dumbledore is her favorite character in the books, apart from Harry himself.

Dumbledore, the wise and often kindly headmaster of Hogwart's, has been a frequent source of discussion since the end of the series; in addition to his death, which is one of the biggest spoilers in the franchise, there's Rowling's decision, post-publication, to reveal that Dumbledore was a homosexual, which spurred all the usual reactions from the internet.

Dumbledore wrote the preface for Newt Scamander's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and will be at least mentioned in the upcoming feature film based on the in-universe work.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child -- a rehearsal script from a play set in the Wizarding World of Harry Poter -- will be available for purchase in July.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a new film set in the universe and in which Dumbledore is name-dropped in the latest trailer, hits theaters in November.
