Marvel's Hundreds of Free Comics Initiative Returns

Today and tomorrow, fans can register to be part of the Marvel #1 initiative, which completely debilitated the ComiXology digital comics store and Marvel.com when it was first introduced last month. As it was when it was first introduced, the Marvel #1 program--which allows fans access to over 700 free #1 issues from throughout Marvel's publishing history--is open only for a very limited window--Marvel wants fans to register at their promotional page by midnight tomorrow to qualify--but in this case, fans aren't expected to complete the transaction by the end of the two-day window. "Sign up to get in on the action before Marvel #1 registration ends at 11:59pm ET on April 9th, 2013," the publisher says, suggesting that they'll have some kind of system set up for those who successfully register to get their books without melting down the system this time. An e-mail was just sent to ComiXology subscribers who had signed up to be notified when the program went back online, which sheds some light on exactly what that system is, saying that invitations to participate will start going out on Thursday, and that once you get your invitation, you'll have 48 hours to get your free #1 issues.
