Saturday Night Live Makes Fun Of Star Wars Cast Returning

On the Weekend Update segment of Saturday Night Live, anchor Seth Myers brought up this week's big Star Wars Episode 7 news. As photos of Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill flashed on the screen, Seth Myers said, "Both Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher have confirmed that they will reprise their roles of Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia in the upcoming Star Wars sequels." Then, an image of Jar Jar Binks appeared on the screen and Seth Myers added, "Said another former Star Wars actor 'Meesa waiting by the phone.'" Seth Myers continued, "Hopefully Hamill and Fisher have aged better than Chewbacca," as an image of a bald Chewbacca flashed on the screen. Oddly enough, SNL Weekend Update got the initial report wrong, as Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher have not confirmed they will be returning. Well, Carrie Fisher did confirm, but her rep later said she was just joking. Mark Hamill's most recent comments only indicated he was still in negotiations. It was actually George Lucas who seemingly confirmed the original cast was returning, before attempting to cover it up by saying he wouldn't reveal if they had signed deals or not.
