Ser Pounce

On last night's episode of Game of Thrones, the series introduced its first feline royalty in the form of King Tommen's cat, Ser Pounce. Ser Pounce makes his debut when Margaery Tyrell sneaks into the young king's room in the middle of the night. As Margaery is working her charms on Tommen, Ser Pounce jumps up on Tommen's bed. Tommen tells Margaery about how Joffrey didn't like Ser Pounce. Joffrey threatened to skin the cat and mix his remains into Tommen's food so that he'd eat Ser Pounce without realizing it. Margaery says that was cruel of Joffrey and that she believes Tommen is much gentler. This is quite different from how Ser Pounce arrives in A Song of Ice and Fire. In A Feast for Crows, Maragery actually gives Ser Pounce to Tommen, along with two other cats (Boots and Lady Whiskers, who have yet to make their debut). Ser Pounce's appearance is different as well, as all three of the cats Maragery gives to Tommen have black hair. Ser Pounce in Game of Thrones has lighter hair. As one would expect with cats on the Internet, Ser Pounce has become instantly popular, trending worldwide on Twitter following his debut. Personally, I don't trust cats. I suspect that Ser Pounce is actually a Faceless Man who will assassinate Tommen when he least expects it. Game of Thrones airs Sunday's at 9 PM ET on HBO.
