Shadowline

, which is an imprint of Image Comics, has announced a brand new hard-boiled crime series which will be released as a three-issue min-series. The name of the new comic book is Overlook, and it is being written by Joshua Williamson with art by Alejandro Aragon. "Overlook takes everything I love about crime novels, movies and comics and distills them into three issues of some of the most brutal comics I've ever written," Williamson said. "Even better, Alejandro completely mastered conveying Overlook's beautifully twisted noir with only his brush to help him. I cannot believe some of the things we're getting away with in this book. My fellow crime fans will be most pleased." The Overlook mini-series features a dirty prize-fighter by the name of Mickey "The Nickel" Nicholson. Mickey is the sort of fighter who will do anything for a buck. One of Overlook's most notorious mobsters hires Mickey to infiltrate an underground boxing outfit. Mickey's mission is to find a massive stash of stolen "rainy day" money and to kill the wayward wife responsible. In exchange for completing this task, the mobster has promised to assassinate a target of Mickey's choice. The first issue of Overlook is thirty-two pages in black and white. It is scheduled to hit comic book stores on April 8, 2009.
