While there must be a hundred people who have been rumored to be in the running to direct the new Star Wars Episode 7, the list is reportedly down to just a couple names. Who are those names? Well, that is the $200 million plus budget movie question.
In following the tradition of asking anyone in any way connected with Stars Wars what they know about the upcoming sequels, MTV put the question to Frank Marshall, who just happens to be the husband of Lucasfilm CEO Kathleen Kennedy .
When asked if he had inside info on the director of Star Wars Episode 7, Frank Marshall said, “I do, but I can’t reveal it, or I won’t be alive tomorrow.” Marshall added, “I know there’s a couple of candidates, but I don’t know how soon that will be revealed.”
In addition to being married into the Lucasfilm family, Frank Marshall also produced four of the Indiana Jones films, so MTV also asked him about what the Disney purchase of Lucasfilm meant for that franchise. Frank Marshall said, “Well, I don’t really think it changes anything. It’s still open, but it’s really on the backburner, and we’re not really talking about it. Star Wars is next so that’s what’s being focused on, and Indy’s back there, but nothing has changed.”
