The Amazing Spider-Man 2: [Spoiler] Spotted On Set

Warning: Minor spoilers ahead for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Denis Leary, who played New York Police Captain George Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man, may have died in that film but it won't stop him appearing in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, if the photo at right (found via Fan-girl.org) is any indication. Maybe this means Martin Sheen, who plays Uncle Ben, will have some company in whatever flashback sequence/fever dream/guilt-induced hallucination/near-death experience causes his return, which Sheen confirmed months ago. Even before he was confirmed, though, Sheen expressed an interest in coming back for the sequel, as revealed by director Marc Webb on The Amazing Spider-Man's commentary track. According to Webb, Sheen had proposed that his death scene in The Amazing Spider-Man could be a dream sequence so that he could return in the second movie. (One or both of them–Sheen and Webb–could have been joking about that; it's hard to tell.) While Webb seemed skeptical of that strategy–"We'll see what Marvel thinks about that," the director said–he seemed open to possibly bringing the character back in flashback. The director also told listeners to the audio track that none of the main "parent" figures in the movie–Aunt May, Uncle Ben or Captain Stacy–had to audition; that those actors were the first choices for the roles and that the decision was essentially made before reaching out to any of those performers (Sally Field, Martin Sheen and Denis Leary, respectively) that if they took the job, it was theirs--so with that kind of blind support behind the performers, it's perhaps not surprising that they're all lined up to come back for more.
