The Avengers: Ellen DeGeneres: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Robert Downey, Jr. and Scarlett Johansson appeared on Ellen today, and while Downey mostly talked about his three-month-old baby Exton, Ellen herself took time out to debut some--ahem--never-before-seen footage from The Avengers, in which she appeared as a caped, nameless superhero whose powers appeared to involve annoying the rest of the cast. It's a clever little bit of editing, and can be seen below. According to DeGeneres, she was cut from the film because her non-stop talking would have inflated the already-bloated runtime to around three days. But maybe somebody at Marvel should take note: her costume looked better onscreen than Captain America's.

To make it up to her for being cut from the film, perhaps, Downey Jr. and Johansson presented Ellen with an action figure version of herself, complete with the trade dress of the Avengers toy line. As an official Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., though, she mostly just poked fun at the figure, which she said looked more like Glee star Jane Lynch than herself. You can see THAT video below, too.
