The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

broke another November box office record this weekend, as it grossed $18 million in IMAX theatres worldwide and $12.6 million in 347 screens in North America since its Friday release, IMAX said today. That represents the best three-day domestic opening for November in IMAX history, topping the previous record set by Skyfall last year. Catching Fire also led IMAX to its second best overall weekend ever with total worldwide grosses for all IMAX films reaching $25.7 million. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire generated more than $160 million in the U.S. and $300 million worldwide in its opening weekend, breaking the record for a November domestic opening and eclipsing the first Hunger Games by nearly $10 million.
