While it might be awhile before we get an Expendebelles, another female led spinoff is coming along rather nicely, and it could feature quite an impressive cast.
Oceans Eight, the spinoff of the successful Ocean’s Eleven franchise (which itself was a remake of the original Ocean’s Eleven) is close to deals with a number of talented actors according to Deadline. Warner Bros. is reportedly working hard to solidify deals with Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, and Awkwafina (Nora Lum).

At this point, the casting is still fluid, and while there aren’t any confirmed cameos from the original cast, Ocean’s Eleven Director Steven Soderbergh will be producing the film, itself based on a script written by Olivia Milch.
The Ocean’s franchise was originally adapted from the 1960 original, which starred Rat Pack members Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford, Joey Bishop, and Angie Dickinson. In the 2001 remake, George Clooney and Brad Pitt took the reigns and put a talented team together that spanned three films, with a cast that included Bernie Mac, Elliott Gould, Casey Affleck, Scott Caan, Shaobo Qin, Carl Reiner, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia, Julia Roberts, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
The franchise has been dormant since 2007, and with such a talented potential cast, the odds are good that we’ll see another trilogy of films soon.
