The 2017 Oscars ended on one of the most awkward notes in history when Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were given (and read aloud) the wrong envelope for Best Picture winner. Every since the big La La Land / Moonlight snafu, the Internet has been going crazy over “#Envelopegate” – and now a major geek icon is getting his jabs in, too.

If you don’t get the reference, a “Marvel No-Prize” was a fake award that Marvel Comics used to give out to readers. It was mainly a cheeky way to respond to passionate fans who pointed out foibles in the comics like continuity errors – or to those who wrote in with insightful responses to surveys, etc. In the time since, it’s also evolved into a digital prize awarded to “meritorious service to Marveldom.”
