Power Rangers 2: Dreamcasting The Green Ranger
The Power Rangers live-action reboot didn't hit the levels of success it initially hoped for, but [...]
Hannah John-Kamen
Most of Hannah John-Kamen's biggest projects are upcoming in 2018, where she will be featured in movies like Tomb Raider, Ready Player One, and Ant-Man and the Wasp. Her previous track record is no slouch though, with parts in Game of Thrones, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and the SyFy series Killjoys.
With her star quickly on the rise, it would be a great idea to lock her down for Power Rangers, and she's shown quite capable of action sequences in Killjoys. She has a captivating look and an edge to her that would be amazing to have in a Green Ranger, regardless of whether Tommy is an ally or a villain in the sequel.
You can view the synopsis for Killjoys below.
From the producers of Orphan Black (Temple Street Productions) and the creator of Lost Girl (Michelle Lovretta), "Killjoys" follows a fun-loving, hard living trio of interplanetary bounty hunters sworn to remain impartial as they chase deadly warrants throughout the Quad, a distant system on the brink of a bloody, multiplanetary class war. Starring Hannah John-Kamen, Aaron Ashmore, Luke Macfarlane.
In Season 3 of KILLJOYS, war looms over the J Star System. After sustaining serious personal loss, Dutch, Johnny, and D'avin prepare themselves for what lies ahead. While the trio struggles to assemble an army, a dangerous force - Aneela - heads towards them. The unhinged daughter of Dutch's late mentor Khlyen, Aneela is hell-bent on revenge for the death of her father. The team's toughest challenge yet, and perhaps Dutch's only hope of stopping Aneela, includes convincing a motley gang of bounty hunters to go from believing "The Warrant is All" to "The War is All".
Jessie T. Usher
Tommy Oliver is a talented Martial artist, but that's only part of why Power Rangers fans love him. Tommy never had a problem in the charm department, and actor Jessie T. Usher would have no issues there either.
Usher was last seen in the ensemble comedy Almost Christmas but also starred in the television series Survivor's Remorse and Independence Day: Resurgence. He has two more films in production for later this year, so it might be a great time to snap him up for the coveted role of Green Ranger.
He would bring a quiet confidence to the role that would play well against the rest of the team, and his charming demeanor could be used to great effect if the role was to be a villain first like in the show.
You can find the description for Almost Christmas below.
An African-American widower (Danny Glover) asks his family -- which includes his sassy sister-in-law (Mo'Nique) and four adult children (Kimberly Elise, Romany Malco, Gabrielle Union, and Jessie Usher), as well as the latter's spouses and kids -- to join him for their first Christmas since his wife passed away. However, having all of them under one roof leads to a number of personal confrontations as secrets are revealed and marriages are tested. Omar Epps, J.B. Smoove, Nicole Ari Parker, John Michael Higgins, Keri Hilson, and DC Young Fly co-star. Written and directed by David E. Talbert (Baggage Claim).
Maika Monroe
While Independence Day: Resurgence didn't light up the box office, it certainly had some A+ talent attached. That includes Maika Monroe, who already has a string of movies primed for 2017 like Bokeh, Hot Summer Nights, and The Scent of Rain & Lightning.
Monroe has shown a wide range in her projects so far, from fun and flirty in Hot Summer Nights to the pensive and terrified in the horror favorite It Follows. The Green Ranger wouldn't be nearly as dark as the latter mind you, but she has the ability to bring in the audience despite the more fantastical elements of the Power Rangers, something the rest of the cast managed to pull off in the original.
You can find the description for Bokeh below.
When a flash of light shoots across the sky on their romantic, Iceland vacation, Jenai (Maika Monroe) and Riley (Matt O'Leary) wake up to discover every person on earth has disappeared. Their struggle to survive and to reconcile the mysterious event lead them to reconsider everything they know about themselves and the world.
Glen Powell
Glen Powell has a habit of stealing the show, something he did frequently on the FOX sensation Scream Queens as Chad Radwell. Powell has also shown he has the ability to do so on the big screen, with a memorable part as John Glenn in Hidden Figures, and it would be amazing to see that in Power Rangers.
Powell has natural comedic strengths, but he is capable of displaying them in more subtle ways. That would play well against the rest of the Rangers cast, and as shown in Hidden Figures he commands the screen every time he's on it, something Tommy has a habit of doing on a regular basis.
You can find the synopsis for Hidden Figures below.
Three female African-American mathematicians (Taraji P. Henson, Octavia L. Spencer, and Janelle Monae) provide crucial calculations for NASA's space race against the Soviets, all while dealing with the racist and sexist assumptions of their white co-workers. Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst, and Jim Parsons co-star in this adaptation of the book of the same name by Margot Lee Shetterly. Directed by Theodore Melfi.
