Actress Anna Akana was sitting next to Fisher on the plane and confirmed the report.
“Don’t know how else to process this, but Carrie Fisher stopped breathing on the flight home. Hope she’s gonna be OK. So many thanks to the United flight crew who jumped into action, and the awesome doctor and nurse passengers who helped,” Akana wrote.
According to the original report, the actress, famous for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise, was rushed to a hospital just after noon when the plane landed in LA. There is no official word on her current condition – LAX police responded when the plane landed and only confirmed that they were responding to a medical emergency of someone having a heart attack, not that it was Fisher, nor did they offer any updates.
Fisher was on a book tour promoting her memories “The Princess Diarist,” a book about her personal experiences during the filming of the original Star Wars trilogy. She appeared in 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens, reprising the role of Leia in a film taking place thirty years after her last appearance, in Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi. She also filmed the role in Star Wars: Episode VIII, which wrapped filming in the Summer and is currently in post-production.
Our thoughts, prayers, and the Force be with her.
