Star Wars Gets An Unnecessary Censorship Trailer

The Star Wars film universe isn't exactly known for being funny. Sure, there are moments of levity all throughout the collected films of the classic sci-fi saga, it's usually a far more serious and action-packed tale. Serious, that is, until now. Last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live the Star Wars saga got the "Unnecessary Censorship" treatment and the results were hilarious.

The "Unnecessary Censorship - Star Wars Edition" clip features a lot of humorous dialogue censorship with lots of bleeping and blurring of lips to make the classic franchise presumably a lot more full of swearing and sexual innuendo. You can check out the hilarious clip above.

In addition to some well-placed faux foul language, the video also blurs out light sabers and even one of R2D2's tools, the implication being that something more risque than a lightsaber battle is going on. The best moment in the clip, though, might just be a censored Yoda making a presumably lewd suggestion to Luke Skywalker.

The "Unneccesary Censorship" clip was part of Kimmel's very Force-friendly Friday night show that also featured a humorous skit of Kimmel making character suggestions to Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson (including the slightly terrifying "Bikini Chewbacca,") a very special Wookie-themed Christmas tree, and guest appearances by much of The Last Jedi cast, as well as Johnson who revealed that Billy Dee Williams never approached him about reprising the role of Lando Calrissian in the eight installment of the Star Wars saga.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in theaters on December 15, 2017. It will be followed by Star Wars: Episode IX on December 20, 2019. The next standalone film, Solo: A Star Wars Story, will release on May 25, 2018.
