Ever since Ron Howard took over production of the Han Solo spinoff movie, the steady trickle of updates has made it seem like he’s making an entirely different movie rather than finishing the film. But today’s post makes it clear that the film is almost finished shooting.

Fans who glanced at the director’s Twitter might have uttered the familiar phrase “Hello, what have we here?”

Howard announced that principal actor Donald Glover has wrapped on the production.

Glover is playing the role of Lando Calrissian in the Star Wars anthology film, rumored to be called Han Solo: A Star Wars Story. He’s taking the mantle from Billy Dee Williams who famously portrayed the character in the Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

There’s no word of how much more filming they need to do. When Howard took over from departing directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, there was still three weeks left of principal photography as well as the planned five weeks of reshoots typical for productions of this magnitude.

They’ve just finished week three in that reshoot schedule, but they have not gone public on the details of their plan. So that proposed calendar might have been shifted.

Glover is supposed to play a significant role in the Han Solo spinoff, but they could have shifted the dates around so he can get started on the production of Atlanta Season Two.

The Han Solo spinoff is scheduled to hit theaters May 25, 2018.

The Han Solo spinoff currently has a 4.04 out of 5 ComicBook.com User Anticipation Rating making it the fifth most anticipated upcoming comic book movie among ComicBook.com readers.
