Ever since Disney purchased Lucasfilm and announced new animated projects and new live-action films, the world of Star Wars both expanded and got a little more intimate. On the one hand, new films meant seeing new adventures with new characters, but on the other hand, all of these characters could interact with established storylines in ways to create new relationships between familiar faces. Even though the end of Rogue One brought with it the demise of the droid K-2SO, the actor who brought him to life, Alan Tudyk, revealed if he thought we’d see him again in animated form.
During a recent interview with Comicbook.com, we asked Tudyk if he’d be up for playing the character again. Considering Saw Gererra, played by Forest Whitaker in the film, had been featured in both The Clone Wars and Rebels animated series, there’s a precedent for that opportunity.
“The character’s fun and he’d lend something to a lot of different stories,” Tudyk hesitantly revealed. Throughout the interview, he seemed to have looked at the experience fondly, however, couldn’t give any official answer.

Hal Hickel, the Animation Supervisor for Rogue One, shared some of his thoughts on the possibility.
“That’d be great. And I don’t think it would contradict anything to see him walk through that universe as well. I don’t see why that would be a thing,” Hickel explained. “I’m not speaking on behalf of Lucasfilm officially or anything,” he joked.
Tudyk retorted that his phone was on, implying that the Lucasfilm higher-ups might be listening in on the conversation.
Considering K-2SO’s mind had been wiped before joining the Rebellion, and that C-3PO had his mind wiped after the events of Revenge of the Sith, we pointed out that wiping K-2SO’s mind again could erase any continuity discrepancies.
Hickel joked, “In fact, wiping droid memories is a great way to retcon a whole bunch of…problems…with…nevermind,” referencing the C-3PO memory wipe.
