Sourcing clips from Stars Wars Episodes IV, V, and VI, The Unusual Suspect mashes the scenes up to create an uncanny trailer edit which mirrors the first Suicide Squad trailer, and it’s impossible to deny that the video turned out great.
The trailer begins with a wide shot of the Mos Eisley’s space port as a voice-over of Obi-Wan Kenobi lilts over the scene. Then, the trailer picks up steam when the infamous logo for Lucasfilms appears on-screen as it moves about to deep ominous laughter that is meant to mirror The Joker’s high-pitched cackling. Featuring iconic characters like Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Leia Organa, and the franchise’s robot companions amongst others, the mash-up splices the Suicide Squad‘s trailer errie-yet-cheerful soundtrack with sharp dialogue from Star Wars.
Perhaps one of the best scenes from the trailer crossover is when Han Solo is seen holed up in a bar where he shoots an unwanted Greedo before apologizing for the mess. The famous scene, which has been controversially changed in various Star Wars editions, depicts Han Solo as a dangerous space renegade who’d fit in just fine with DC’s Suicide Squad roster.
The Unusual Suspect uploads his reviews and mash-ups on a frequent basis with his most popular videos featured on his Youtube and Facebook pages. Currently, his most viewed videos are “10 Things ‘Star Wars Ep. 4-6’ Did WRONG” and “Spider-Man (Deadpool Style!)” with the two videos racking up millions of views.
Give it a couple of weeks or so, and surely, “Star Wars (Suicide Squad Style!)” will rank up there as another big hit. With Suicide Squad set to hit theaters later this Fall, The Unusual Suspect will likely see his own trailer mash-up rack up views as the release date draws closer.
