It’s no secret; Star Wars has a thing for bombshell revelations. From Luke Skywalker’s parentage to his brotherly connection with Leia, the sci-fi franchise never fails to leave fans dazed. Most recently, the trend continued in Star Wars: The Force Awakens as fans were treated to the unexpected death of a beloved original character. Still, it looks like Star Wars has more up its galactic sleeves. In a recent Japanese promo, Star Wars: The Last Jedi promised fans it would deliver the franchise’s most shocking truth yet.

Thanks to Star Wars News Net, the site was able to find a translation for the upcoming film’s promo. The leaflet doesn’t contain any spoilery information, but it does foreshadow a revelation so powerful not even Darth Vader could compare.

So far, fans have picked apart a few highlights from the leaflet. The first has to do with the apparent mission General Leia will undergo with Poe, Finn, and more. Fans were also interested to her Kylo Ren‘s mission described as one bolstered by ambition. And, most importantly, diehards are wondering what kind of shocker The Last Jedi will leave fans hanging with.
Star Wars has set up plenty of possible cliffhangers for the next film. Rey’s heritage, Snoke’s true identity, and another death are all potential reveals which could make fans’ heads spin. But, for now, fans can only speculate what is coming. There is a chance the Japanese flier is misleading fans with its over-the-top promise, but many are hoping that’s not the case.
After all, The Last Jedi will have to do something pretty big to one-up The Force Awakens.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi, from writer/director Rian Johnson, is in post-production now for a December 15, 2017, release. The film follows-up and continues the story of the next generation of the saga as Rey, Poe, Finn, and Kylo Ren find their place in the galaxy and follow the legacy of Luke Skywalker, Leia, and Han Solo. Daisy Ridley returns to star as Rey, with other returning stars John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Peter Mayhew, Andy Serkis, Anthony Daniels, Lupita Nyong’o Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa. Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern join the cast in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is slated for release on December 15, 2017. Han Solo: A Star Wars Story hits on May 25, 2018, while Star Wars: Episode IX has a release date of May 24, 2019.
