The finale of The Walking Dead‘s seventh season is almost upon us, as the series is set to wrap up its most agonizing run. As opposed to past seasons, this past set of episodes has seen everyone’s favorite heroes broken and beaten.

However, Sunday’s 90-minute finale looks to have a different tone. The preview for the episode teased plenty of action, as Rick and the others are finally ready to stand up to Negan.

The cast has said – on numerous occasions – that fans will leave season seven feeling fulfilled and triumphant. That’s a great relief to audiences, but the fun doesn’t stop there.

According to Andrew Lincoln, season eight is going to be even crazier. When speaking with the LA times, The Walking Dead star couldn’t hide his excitement about what’s coming next.

“We’re going to come out swinging,” he said of the finale. “And it’s not going to stop. I’m more excited for Season 8 than I’ve ever been. I think it’s going to be big, but it’s also going to be terrifying. And I mean that from the very depths of my cynical soul.”

The fact that it’s going to be arriving full-throttle is exciting, but what about that ‘terrifying’ comment? Could that mean things will be scary in the lives of the characters? Or is The Walking Dead getting back to its horrific roots?
