Eugene Is Missing In The Walking Dead #165 Preview

Ahead of its release, Skybound and Image Comics have released a preview of The Walking Dead’s issue #165.

The title of issue #165 is “Opportunity” and its cover sees a number of Saviors plastered on it. As readers have seen, Robert Kirkman‘s comic series has been setting up an attack on Alexandria by the remaining Saviors who have lingered at the Sanctuary since Negan‘s imprisonment after the war. With the series’ largest herd of walkers breaking down the Alexandria gates and undead roaming within the walls, the Safe-Zone is weak and the Saviors plan to strike.

What’s most ironic is that the group is being lead by Sherry, Dwight’s ex-wife who left him for Negan. The teases of their plans to attack Alexandria have been trickled into various issue in recent months but appear to be coming to a head with issue #165.

In the preview for the new issue, Andrea is seen with several other survivors who can’t find Eugene. Eugene was last seen with Heath, sharing a moment which pulled back a couple of layers on their characters and gave readers and understanding of how they feel about themselves.

At the bottom of the preview, a shocked Rick Grimes is also seen looking on as Negan takes down walkers outside of the house which they were trapped in inside of the Safe-Zone. “Judge all you want, Rick,” Negan calls out. “This is thrilling!”

The two characters have been forming one of the most interesting relationships in the comics. Rick is reluctant to trust the man who killed his friends and broke his leg but Negan has repeatedly proven his worthiness of Rick’s trust. With Negan currently taking out zombies, protecting himself and Rick having just saved Rick’s life in issues #163 and #164, the leader of Alexandria will have little reason not to trust the former villain.
