Sometimes, fans of The Walking Dead aren’t sure if Chandler Riggs’ character’s name is Carl or Coral, and it can cause some trouble for the actor whenever the latter crops up.

The character’s name is definitely Carl, but when British actor Andrew Lincoln throws his southern accent on to portray Georgia boy Rick Grimes, the character’s son’s name comes out a bit more like the marine invertebrate. Especially when he won’t just stay in the house.
As a result of all this, fans of the popular AMC zombie drama shout “Coral” at both Lincoln and Riggs when passing them at conventions or impersonating the characters for cosplay. It’s actually become quite a famous meme. But now, there is about to be a whole new slew of jokes headed Riggs’ way thanks a Netflix series titled Chasing Coral.
Former The Walking Dead actor James Allen McCune took to Twitter to send a message Riggs’ way. It’s an image of a billboard advertising the Chasing Coral series, captioned, “Yo, @chandlerriggs, my condolences for all the jokes you’re about to put up with.”

McCune, who played Hershel’s son Jimmy on The Walking Dead until the character was devoured by zombies in an RV saving Carl’s life during the Season 2 finale, got his tweet through to his former co-star, warranting a hilarious response from the 18-year-old actor.
“Kill me,” Riggs wrote back.

Riggs and Lincoln are fully aware of the “Coral” jokes already. As recently as San Diego Comic-Con 2017, Lincoln joked with a room full of fans about his pronunciation of the his character’s son’s name, even saying it in the accent to please the fans.
As for whether or not the Chasing Coral series on Netflix becomes a running joke among The Walking Dead family, the safe bet is on: absolutely. In fact, isn’t that what the show is already about?
