The Walking Dead has managed to maintain an impressive number of characters who were last seen alive, leaving the group or being left behind, to actually never be seen again on the AMC series.

Most notably, Juan Pareja’s Morales took a turn for Birmingham, Alabama when Rick Grimes lead the camp to the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta, Georgia, during the show’s first season. However, he was hardly the only character to be introduced and then removed with an open-ended fate.

A deleted scene from The Walking Dead‘s second season has begun circulating online, sparking interest of many hardcore fans, revealing the fate of one particular group which was never heard from again.

Vatos

In Season 1, the fourth episode of The Walking Dead was titled “Vatos.” In it, Rick’s group encountered a group living in a nursing home.

The group, commonly referred to as a gang named after the episode’s title, carried themselves as hardened gangsters despite being genuinely interested in protecting the old folks in their lives who had been living in the home when the world fell apart.

After Rick’s group and the Vatosย came to agreement, which included Rick leaving some guns with them, the group was never seen or heard from again.

In the deleted scene, the fate of the Vatosย is revealed, and it is grim. While it is unclear who killed the Vatos, it has been confirmed that a group of humans was responsible for their ending which has its aftermath on display in the scene below.

Morales Return?

Early in The Walking Dead, humans were not looked at as the threat they are on the AMC series, now. Instead, it was zombies which were the biggest fear for most of the survivors. Still, someone killed the Vatos.

The immediate suspicion is that The Walking Dead may have been teasing the Governor and his Woodburyย army well ahead of their Season 3 arrival. However, the show has never been known for complex and planned in advance story telling with the exception of the Wolves — Season 6’s flash in the pan bunch who were teased through the late episodes of Season 5.ย

Realistically, it could have been anyone.Perhaps it was Randall’s bunch?ย It could have been Negan. It could have been Alpha or one of the people who will inevitably become the Whisperers. Maybe it was someone who head to the Mexican-American border for the war which is coming in Season 3 of Fear the Walking Dead?

In the words of a Tootsieย Roll ad: the world may never know.
