While Rosita and Sasha appear to be all set for a suicidal assassination mission in which they will attempt to take out Negan, others have plans back at the Hilltop. Maggie, Jesus, and Enid and rallying the community and teaching them how to fight for when the time comes.
Maggie, however, has bigger plans for the community. The woman who continues to emerge as the groups’ leader was seen writing down a list of necessary supplies to start the episode.
On the following slides are the contents of Maggie’s list.
Scrap Metal
The first item on Maggie’s list reads, “Scrap metal.”
Scrap metal can be used for a number of things by the Hilltop. It might be able to fortify their walls but is more likely a resource which will be allocated to creating weapons. The Hilltop is known for fighting with spears. The tips of those spears feature sharpenedย metal points. It’s the most likely place for Maggie to need scrap metal, though the resource can likely be used in a number of ways.
Batteries
The second item on Maggie list reads, “Batteries.”
What exactly does Maggie need batteries for? It’s anybodies guess.
However, in the apocalypse, having a working flashlight handy is never a bad option when threats of walkers or, worse, humans, can be lurking around any corner at any time. At the Hilltop, the community has limited electricity. Maggie is likely coming up with a plan for the community to chat via walkie talkie radios during the inevitable war ahead and realizes such luxuries will require batteries to operate properly.
It’s unlikely she wants to plug in her iPhoneย 7 to look at photos of her and Glenn.
New Generator
The third item on Maggie’s list reads, “New Generator, Ask Eduardo?”
The use of generator is pretty simple: power the trailers and other luxuries offered at the Hilltop community. Why Maggie needs a new generator is more interesting, though. Maggie’s trailer seems to be working just fine but, still, she wants to discuss Eduardo (the guy who is usually watching the Hilltop’s gate, spear in hand) how they can get a new one.
Could Maggie be planning to set up some sort of temporary camp outside of the Hilltop for an attack on Negan and the Saviors at the Sanctuary?
Emergency Exit
The fourth item on Maggie’s list reads, “Emergency Exit.”
Given that Maggie is hiding away from the Saviors, she needs an escape route. If Negan, Simon, or any other member of the villainous baddie bunch shows up at the Hilltop, they come thinking Maggie is dead and Daryl is missing. If either of them were to be caught hiding out and plotting at the Hilltop, not only would they be in trouble and likely killed but Gregory, Jesus, and the other members of the Hilltop who helped them survive in the community without being caught would also be punished.ย
Plus, Sashaย and Rosita are up to no good. If things go awry at the Hilltop and Neganย launches an attack, the group will need a readily available option to hightail it out of town.
Horses??
The fifth and final item on Maggie’s list reads, “Horses??”
Horses become a staple for transportation in Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead comics. We have seen a few characters saddle up on the noble steeds throughout the AMCย series, however, with all of the communities beginning to work together and travel to each other so frequently, fuel supplies will run low and horses will become more necessary.ย
With the war ahead, more members of each community will need to be mobile. With horses being stabled in the Hilltop, the community’s army will be at the ready to move quickly on a moment’s notice.ย
