Ever since Jesus debuted on The Walking Dead last season, fans have fallen in love with the classic comic character. The guy is a compassionate leader – even if he doesn’t want to be – a lethal martial artist, and easily has some of the best hair on the show.

In recent episodes, Jesus has taken up a much bigger role. He’s gone from simple spy from Hilltop, to a wise consultant in the fight against Negan. In other words, Jesus has become one of the show’s best characters.

During a Reddit AMA, actor Tom Payne was asked about his favorite scenes as the popular character. He offered two scenes from his time on the show, and fans can probably guess which ones he picked.

“Either Norman chasing me around a field or when I’m sat around the table with the group and say ‘Your world’s about to get a whole lot bigger’ and then the credits start. That was super cool.”

The only surprise here, was the fact that Payne didn’t mention his most recent scene. In last week’s episode, Jesus – who is gay in the comics – came out on the show. It was very subtle, but his comment about boyfriends was all anyone needed to hear.

The scene was the perfect way to make that reveal, as there was no attention drawn to it. The show made a point of understanding that the character’s sexuality was normal, so it was just a casual part of a conversation.
