Fear The Walking Dead: Where Is Ofelia?

Spoilers for Fear the Walking Dead Season 3 Episode 4 follow.

Now that Daniel Salazar has returned to Fear the Walking Dead and his story has been told, the one remaining missing character is due back sooner or later.

Ofelia Salazar, Daniel’s daughter, was last seen in the Season 2 finale of Fear the Walking Dead. Interestingly enough, she was found by Jeremiah Otto, a new character played by Dayton Callie. When Madison Clark and her family arrived at the Otto family’s Broke Jaw Ranch, many expected to find Ofelia. However, a few days into their stay at the prepper’s place, there is no sign of Ofelia.

Like much of the audience, Daniel Salazar believes Ofelia to be alive, despite being lied to about her location by the slithery Victor Strand. ComicBook.com caught up with Salazar actor Ruben Blades to hear his perspective of his character’s daughter’s whereabouts.

“The story that Strand is giving him is too detailed to be a complete lie,” Blades said. “The thing about Madison and the thing about the hotel… He gave enough bits of information for Salazar, who’s an intelligence officer, to realize that there’s some truth to what he’s saying. So even though he doesn’t believe what Strand said, he still thinks that Ofelia can be alive.”

Blades points out that Salazar caught on to Strand’s lie the moment he said, “She’s waiting for you.” Still, he sees a value in the con man.

“And more than dissuading the hope that he feels that this is true, I think it enforces it and he feels like somehow, Strand can qualify the situation later on,” Blades said. “But only at this point, Strand can go f— himself.”

It does, however, sound like it won’t be long until Ofelia returns to our TV screens on Sunday nights. While describing his excitement to be back on Fear the Walking Dead, Blades pointed out a few cast members he is particularly excited to be working with again, including Ofelia actress Mercedes Mason.

“I’m glad to be with all the others, with Colman [Domingo] and Mercedes [Mason] and Kim [Dickens] and others,” Blades said.
