In one of the biggest mysteries plaguing viewers of The Walking Dead — right up with the long-running question of whatever happened to a certain character from season 1, a question that was only just recently answered — fans want to know: just who is keeping the grass neatly trimmed during the apocalypse?

Appearing on live after show Talking Dead last Sunday, The Walking Dead showrunner Scott M. Gimple said the burning question will be answered — in time.

"I'm pretty excited about this," Gimple said in response to a fan's question shared via Facebook. "Listen, this is something that we deal with. And because of that… I am working on a story. All of these years, why the grass is cut will be answered. I don't know in what medium — might be fan fiction again — but it will be told."

Is Gimple joking? Until it happens, guess we'll never mow.

AMC is currently airing The Walking Dead Red Machete in between commercials during new episodes of The Walking Dead, telling the origin story of Rick Grimes' (Andrew Lincoln) famous weapon. Maybe we'll see a mini-series dedicated to the secret behind all those well-kept lawns: "The Walking Flowerbed."

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9/8c on AMC, followed by live episodes of Talking Dead.
