MCU Star Shuts Down a Major Daredevil: Born Again Theory (& It’ll Make You Sad)

One fan-favorite Daredevil: Born Again has just denied all our speculation about their return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The second season of Daredevil: Born Again is scheduled to hit Disney+ in 2026, bringing Matt Murdock’s Man Without Fear (Charlie Cox) and Wilson Fisk’s Kingpin, the corrupt Mayor of New York (Vincent D’Onofrio) back in an epic battle for the sake of the city. Daredevil won’t be alone in Born Again season 2, as he’s amassing an army to fight Kingpin, but one of his closest allies won’t be returning.

“I hate to be the bearer of bad news,” Elden Henson mentioned at LA Comic-Con when asked about whether Franklin “Foggy” Nelson will be returning in Daredevil: Born Again season 2. “But it’s just not happening.” Henson played Foggy Nelson, Murdock’s law partner and closest friend, throughout the entire Daredevil series on Netflix, and reprised the role in the premiere of Daredevil: Born Again in 2025. There were many theories about how Foggy could return in season 2, but Henson’s new comments suggest this unfortunately won’t be happening.

What is Foggy Nelson’s Fate in the MCU?

Foggy Nelson was at the core of Matt Murdock’s story throughout the Defenders Saga, so it was a huge relief when both he and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) were confirmed to be coming back for Daredevil: Born Again. Foggy’s death in episode 1, “Heaven’s Half Hour,” was a huge shock and a seriously emotional moment, leaving many disappointed that he didn’t get more screen-time in the revival series. He was killed by Benjamin Poindexter’s Bullseye (Wilson Bethel) on the orders of Vanessa Fisk (Ayelet Zurer), as Foggy was getting close to unveiling the Fisks’ plans for Red Hook.

Following Foggy’s death, theories emerged suggesting many ideas about how he could return, even though his demise was very final. Foggy has escaped death several times in Marvel Comics, so there is precedence for this to happen in the live-action MCU, too, but Elden Henson’s new comments seem to suggest this won’t be the case. This contradicts comments made by executive producer Sana Amanat back in March 2025, as she suggested to Entertainment Weekly that “He and Deborah are coming back for season 2 in different ways.” Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Brad Winderbaum, even backed up these comments.

“We’re excited to work with him again,” Winderbaum revealed to Entertainment Weekly shortly after Foggy Nelson’s demise in Daredevil: Born Again season 1. “I don’t see a Daredevil season without him in some regard.” This sentiment is shared by most viewers, who find it hard to imagine Matt Murdock continuing on as Daredevil without the support and grounding nature of his best friend and confidant. It’s possible Henson’s comments could be a red herring, and Foggy Nelson will indeed return in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, but only time will tell.
