This year is a new beginning in many ways for both WWE and DC Comics. WWE is ushering in tons of talent from its NXT brand, and DC Comics has recently launched DC Universe Rebirth #1. Both of these movements are meant to fill their respective brands and universes with new energy and characters that will be around for years to come.

With all those similarities, I couldn’t help but ponder just who might end up on a WWE-style Justice League squad. Thus, this post was born.
Now, a few things to remember. One, I went with the core New 52 Justice League group. The group will change up a bit with the coming Rebirth event, but since we don’t know exactly what that lineup will be just yet, I decided to go with that foundation.
Two, no wrestlers currently part of NXT are part of this lineup. I only went with the main roster wrestlers. No reason really other than it helped keep the sheer number of options down a bit.
Three, only babyfaces (or ones straddling the line) could be considered for the league. There were plenty of options that fit certain characters, and I almost put one of them in for Batman, but it just didn’t feel right to stick a heel in Batman or Wonder Woman’s spot on the team.
Alright, with all that settled, let’s get to the fun part.
Cyborg – Apollo Crews
Cyborg is a man of many talents, and not all of them can be immediately spotted by looking at him. Given a chance to show what he can do, however, and the hero is indispensableย to the League.ย Whether helping the team gather information from thousands of sources at any given moment or using his advanced tech and brawn to take out a physical threat, the man is a one-stop shop in a myriad of ways.
Apollo Crews is the same for WWE.ย The performer is capable of dizzying physical spectacles, but can adapt to his opponents moves and style at a moment’s notice. If he’s fighting an aerial opponent, he deploys a ground game. If he’s taking on a speedster, he’s quick enough to keep pace. If he’s facing someone of immense strength, he can go full force brawn and stand toe to toe. He’s an elite machine of threats, and that perfectly represents Cyborg.
Flash – Neville
The Scarlet Speedster is one of the most popularย Justice League members and uses his relentless speed to take advantage of his enemies. The powers at his disposal allow him to accomplish feats a typical person couldn’t even fathom, even allowing himย to travel to different worlds and universes from time to time.
In many ways, Neville does the same thing, sans the time travel bit. Ever since his debut in NXT, the agile performer has bounced around the ring, leaving his opponentsย dazed in his wake. Once he spots an opening, he’ll pounce and hit his trademarkย Red Arrow to put his enemies down for the count.
It wasn’t easy to pick someone for this role either, as other performers like Kalistoย and Sin Cara are also capable of incredible quickness and speed. Still, they don’t quite put it all together like Neville does, and that’s why he’s our pick for the Flash.
Green Lantern – Dolph Ziggler
Creating something where there was nothing.
That statement describes both Green Lantern and Dolphย Zigglerย perfectly.
A hero who wieldsย the most destructive weapon in the universe, yet still bears the weight of providing the power needed for the weapon to work as it’s intended. Imagination and creativity are of immense value to a Lantern, but the most important aspect is Willpower, the power to never give up no matter what your circumstances are.ย
Dolphย Zigglerย has largely been cast as someone you can throw into any ring and he’ll make it work. The wrestler can adapt to whoever is in front of him, and even the most unwatchable matches become watchable when he’s in the ring. He’s constantly looking to exploit his opponent with a barrage of impactful and creative offense, but sometimes that just isn’t enough, and he still might get beaten to the ground. That never seems to stop him, though, and that innate sense of unwillingness to be defeated is exactly what the best lanterns have.
Batman – AJ Styles
Batman is the critical thinker of the group and relies just as much on his intelligence and deduction skills as he does his physical abilities. Researching an enemy and deploying the right strategy is the main goal, but if he has to he can throw down with the best of them.
AJ Styles has journeyed a long road to get to his current spot withinย WWE, and that combination of pure ability and determination are what got him there. He’s cerebral and doesn’t leave anything to chance. He studies his opponent, and when he sees an opportunity to knock them off balance and take the advantage he seizes upon it quickly and methodically. If that isn’t Batman then I don’t know what is.
Wonder Woman – Becky Lynch
Wonder Woman is a princess and a warrior and regards both offices with equal importance. At heart, she’s a diplomat, looking for peacefulย ends when possible. If things don’t progress as planned, however, she quickly switches gears and becomes a potent force to be reckoned with. She’s an Amazon inย the truest sense, and her ethics are only surpassed by her ferocity in battle.
Becky Lynch is a newer recruit to the main roster, but in a short time has established herself as a true warrior woman, and able to tussle with anyone who gets in her way. Her viciousnessย is well documented, and she can pull your arm out of its socket in an instant. Still, her true nature is one of trust and peace, as can be seen in her various alliances over the years. She’ll be your most steadfast ally until you giveย her reason not to be. After that, you better hope she doesn’t find you.
Superman – John Cena
Superman is aย representativeย ofย many things, but the most valuable of those is hope. The icon sees us not as a people to be conquered or pitied, but one that if allowed can achieveย greatness. At its core, his mission is about bringing out the best that humanity has to offer, and making sure that a light always exists for us to follow.
John Cenaย has taken that message of hope and added three other worthwhile traits to it, those being Hustle, ย Loyalty, and Respect. The very traits that humanity should always embody are the ones he fightsย for every timeย he’s in the ring, and anyone looking to stomp those out has to go through him, something that many have failed in accomplishing.ย
For Cena, it’s about representing what we can be, and I’m sure Superman would approve of that choice.
Alright, that’s my group, and I’d love to hear yours! Let us know your picks in the comments!
