VanZant is fighting at UFC Fight Night later today, where she faces "The Karate Hottie" Michelle Waterson. She's fully focused on conquering Waterson in the octagon, but VanZant also has aspirations to someday compete in the WWE. She's already expanded her portfolio to include a stint on ABC's Dancing With The Stars, much like a certain WWE performer has expanded his scope to Hollywood.
That star would be none other than Dwayne The Rock Johnson, who in addition to his ring activities is starring in a bevy of films, including the upcoming The Fate Of The Furious. VanZant spoke to Sports Illustrated about her upcoming fight, but she also confirmed she intends to head to the WWE after her UFC career comes to a close, and she wants to take on the most electrifying man in sports entertainment when she gets there (via WMMA Rankings).
“It’s definitely something I see myself competing in, I think it’s an amazing organization and I would love to transfer into the WWE. Right now I am making a run at the UFC and I’m still really strong and confident in what I’m doing now but eventually, yeah I’d love to transfer over”. When asked if she’ll be playing a villain or a hero, she reveals “maybe a villain to switch things up for a while“. She even has a specific opponent in mind ready for when she makes her debut for the organization “You know as far as the WWE, I’d wanna take on The Rock”.
The bridge from UFC to the WWE is one that has become much more open in recent years, with the most notable example being Brock Lesnar, who has gone back and forth for the latter part of his career. Ronda Rousey is also rumored to be eyeing a WWE run at some point, but that will also likely be after her UFC run. Adding VanZant to the already stacked Women's roster would be fantastic, and hopefully, it happens sooner rather than later.
