Wrestlemania Predictions

It’s time for wrestlers to do battle on the Grandest Stage of All: Wrestlemania. The WWE‘s biggest event is here with one of its most stacked cards in year. Almost every WWE title is getting defended at Wrestlemania and several grudges are getting settled in the most violent way possible.

So who is coming out on top? Well, that’s where we come in. We’ve assembled a crack team of experts to analyze each match and determine its winners. So sit back and see if your guesses are as good as ours!

The Fourth Annual Andre the Giant Battle Royale

Our Prediction: Braun Strowman (Five votes for Braun, one vote for Sami Zayn)

Brandon Gnetz: We just found out this would be Big Show’s final WrestleMania match. The WWE will give him the send off he deserves as he throws out a bunch of jobbers before ultimately losing to Braun Strowman.

Chris Killian: All signs are pointing to Braun getting the win here, unless this is all just a big swerve to get SHAQ over.

Lan Pitts: Braun, probably. I’m still trying to figure out the purpose of this thing. It’s not Money In the Bank, it’s just…there with no real purpose.

Christian Hoffer: Braun’s the sexy choice (and I’m not going to complain if he gets a much-deserved win) but I think Sami Zayn pulls this out for the win. 

Matt Mueller: Curtis Axel! If Heath Slater can be credible again so can Axel. Of course, this would be a great place to pull in someone like Shinsuke and have him win it, but they probably won’t do that.

Dallas Jackson: Who cares? Braun Stroman should win, however. ​

WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match: Neville (c) vs. Austin Aries

Our Prediction: Tie! (3 votes for Austin Aries, 3 votes for Neville)

Christian Hoffer: Neville’s the better wrestler, but since this is a pre-show match, I think they’ll give the victory to the good guy. This is going to be one heck of a match, though. Either way. 

Brandon Gnetz: Sorry, A squared. Neville should never lose the Cruiserweight Championship. EVER. 

Dallas Jackson: ​Neville. Neville is the best wrestler on the roster. 

Lan Pitts: A Double all the way here. He never really got his chance to shine in NXT but here, at almost 40, one of the greatest wrestlers alive will have his moment in the sun.

Matt Mueller: Neville keeps his championship, but it’s going to be a phenomenal match.

Chris Killian: I think Austin Aries is a great addition to the Cruiserweight division. I also love heel Neville. I’m OK with either men taking the win on this, but I think Aries gets the strap to squeeze a little extra juice out of this rivalry.

SmackDown Women’s Championship Match

Our Prediction: Alexa Bliss (Three votes for Alexa, two for Naomi, one for Becky Lynch)

Chris Killian: Alexa Bliss is everything that is right with the women’s division and needs to assert her dominance here, though I wouldn’t be surprised to see that one girl with the light-up sneakers (Naomi) take the win now that she’s back.

Matt Mueller: Bliss isn’t going anywhere as far as the title picture, so whoever wins will be temporary. Thinking it is best to give to Naomi, since she actually never lost it.

Brandon Gnetz: Naomi returning from injury in her hometown to win back the championship she never lost spells one hell of a feel good WrestleMania moment.

Dallas Jackson: ​Bliss won’t lose it to Mickie James… she won’t lose it to Natalya or Becky Lynch. So, it is either that Naomi is a surprise entrant and isn’t actually as hurt as we were led to believe… or Asuka is​ coming up. If it isn’t a surprise entrant taking the belt, Bliss will keep it. 

Lan Pitts: I’m expecting some shenanigans with “recent signees”, (looking at you Ember Moon), but would love to see Alexa walk away here still the champ. 

Christian Hoffer: The Smackdown Women’s division has been built up so that any of the wrestlers could come up on top, but I’ve got a funny feeling that Becky Lynch gets her Wrestlemania Moment. The other three Horsewomen are competing in the RAW match and it doesn’t sit right that Becky doesn’t get a showcase of her own too.  

Raw Tag Team Championship: Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson (c) vs. Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs. Cesaro & Sheamus

Our Prediction: Enzo and Cass (Four votes for Enzo and Cass, two votes for Cesaro and Sheamus)

Christian Hoffer: My heart tells me Cesaro and Sheamus, but my head says that it’s going to be Enzo and Big Cass. I can’t believe how stale Enzo and Big Cass have gotten over the last year, so maybe I’ll be wrong on this too. Sidenote: since this is a ladder’s match, wouldn’t it be DELIGHTFUL if the Hardys made their return to the WWE here?

Lan Pitts:  If Enzo and Cass don’t win this, break them up immediately. There’s no point. I’d like to see the Club retain and for them to have that WrestleMania moment, but Enzo and Cass kinda need this here. 

Dallas Jackson: ​Two of the worst utilized wrestlers versus two of the most overrated versus two right in the middle. Cesaro and Sheamus deserve better so maybe they get the belt back.​

Brandon Gnetz: Enzo and Cass are the only ones who NEED this win and I think they somehow get it done. But we all want to see The Hardys enter this match, right? Can we teach that, Enzo?

Chris Killian: Cesaro and Sheamus need to get the belts back here while every effort should be given to remove the microphones from Enzo and Cass.

Matt Mueller: At some point they’ve got to give it to Enzo and Cass right? Otherwise, they’re just really popular jobbers. Going out on a limb and saying the two pull out the win.

 

Intercontinental Championship Match: Dean Ambrose (c) vs. Baron Corbin

Our Prediction: Baron Corbin (6-0)

Christian Hoffer: It baffles me that the WWE is “rewarding” Dean Ambrose, the Iron Man of the company and the most popular face they have, by feeding him to Baron Corbin. Corbin going over here is the right call, but it sucks that it’s at the expense of Ambrose. 

Matt Mueller: Dean Ambrose has been made to look a bit weak in this feud, and the company is high on Corbin. I think Corbin gets the win for the belt here.

Dallas Jackson: Loser has to get rid of their awful haircut. That is the only way I care about this match or either of these two. 

Lan Pitts: The company seems high on Corbin as of late and since they’re all about making new stars. Corbin needs this for sure since coming onto the main roster. Winning the ATGMBR last year was a good start, but it’s not enough. While I’m not personally into Corbin, I can see the appeal and this should hopefully be a great match, but Ambrose’s WrestleMania record isn’t exactly the best. 

Brandon Gnetz: Oh, is this still happening? They didn’t even mention it on Smackdown this past week so I kind of forgot. Corbin’s build continues and Dean moves on to something more exciting.

Chris Killian: I know the higher-ups really like Baron Corbin, but I get distracted by his low-cut tights. I see Dean Ambrose coming out on top though I’m kind of bored with his schtick too.

 

United States Championship Match: Chris Jericho (c) vs. Kevin Owens

Our Prediction: Kevin Owens (6-0)

Chris Killian: This is going to be a fun match. I think KO gets a little shine back after his quick Goldberg loss by winning the US title and getting the rub from Jericho, who more than likely will be taking a hiatus soon.

Matt Mueller: Owens needs his heat back, and Jericho will likely take some down time, so Owens all the way.

Lan Pitts: This is actually one of the best stories of the year. Their angle has actual weight and emotion behind it. Look for KO to get over and become the new United States Champion. 

Dallas Jackson: I am well known in these parts for being a KO-hater… but I am equally a hater of being completely unrealistic. And… let’s be honest … KO is better in the ring, on the mic, and all the way around vs Jericho — who was once one of my favorite wrestlers. I think they can keep pushing Owens down the card with lesser belts and maybe then I will like him. Hell, he would be an epic Intercontinental Champ, let’s work him down to that. ​

Brandon Gnetz: Kevin Owens gets another belt to hold his gym shorts up and sends Chris Jericho off to another Fozzy tour. 

Christian Hoffer: I think my favorite wrestler gets the win here and…., wait, did Dallas just compliment Kevin Owens? Is HE FINALLY STARTING TO COME AROUND ON KEVIN OWENS? Mark my words, by this time next year, Dallas will be the biggest Kevin Owens fan on this site.

Oh, and Kevin Owens gets the win here. This should be the best match on the card. 

 

 

Raw Women’s Championship: Bayley (c) vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Sasha Banks vs. Nia Jax

 

Our Prediction: Bayley (Four votes for Bayley, one vote for Nia)

Christian Hoffer: Sasha’s going to turn heel either at Wrestlemania or the night after and betray Bayley. I’ll say that Bayley gets the win here, which sets up the inevitable betrayal tomorrow. It’ll be nice to see Charlotte get out of the title picture after a freaking year, though….even if she’s become the undisputed best women’s wrestler on RAW’s roster.

Matthew Mueller: Bayley will come out victorious, and the win will push Banks over the edge, culminating in a big heel turn and a long program. The Boss doesn’t like to lose.

Lan Pitts: Nia Jax needs this more than anybody. You’ve made her this powerhouse of a character, so fulfill that momentum here. 

Brandon Gnetz: Sasha turning heel and winning the bout would make sense, but can you really turn heel against your friend when you’re already in a match with said friend where the point is to defeat them? I like Matt’s theory. FTW.

Dallas Jackson: ​Haven’t we seen this 1049857 times already? I’ll be doing anything else for these 27 minutes. ​

Chris Killian: I think Bayley is a great babyface champ opposite Alexa Bliss as Smackdown’s heel champ. I’d like to see her get the win here, though I wouldn’t be surprised to see them put it on Charlotte at the Showcase of the Immortals.

 

Shane McMahon vs. AJ Styles

Our Prediction: AJ Styles (6-0) 

Brandon Gnetz: We’re probably looking at your basic four star mat classic with sharp chain wrestling and aerobatics. Or Shane falling off the roller coaster through six flaming tables. Yeah, now that I type that out loud, I’ll go with the second one. 

Chris Killian: Probably the most forced match on the card, but also the one that might steal the show, thanks in part to AJ’s consistently amazing performances and a suicide spot from Shane. AJ takes the win after whatever daredevil spot Shane attempts backfires.

Lan Pitts: AJ is going way over and then to Raw. Believe that. 

Matt Mueller: It will be a big spot match, and McMahon will do his part, but AJ comes out the winner. Or at least, he better…

Dallas Jackson: NO ONE WANTS TO SEE THIS MATCH. I am so over the McMahon family feuds with wrestlers story. Honestly, AJ Styles just came off an epic match with John Cena at Royal Rumble and now he is mid carded with Shane-O…. simply awful. He better win and win big.

Christian Hoffer: I wasn’t interested in this match….until I saw the WWE built a roller coaster for their stage. Shane’s totally jumping off that thing. But yeah, AJ Styles wins. 

 

John Cena & Nikki Bella vs. The Miz & Maryse

Our Prediction: John Cena and Nikki Bella (6-0)

Dallas Jackson: ​This has been a much more fun story than I expected it to be… and honestly, I dont want either side to lose. If this ends with a Cena proposal I may barf. ​

Brandon Gnetz: Unlike my friend, Dallas, I love love and would love will almost feel like I’ve been cheated if John Cena doesn’t propose at the end of this match. Man, now I know how Nikki feels. 

Lan Pitts: If rumors are to be correct, we’ll see a marriage proposal, but what I wouldn’t give to see Miz take down Cena. Miz is one of the top heels in the company and has been doing dynamite work as of late. Just to lose to Cena would slightly hurt him here, but they’re looking for WrestleMania moments. 

Matthew Mueller: As much as I would love Miz and Maryse to win here, it’s going to be Cena and Nikki.

Christian Hoffer: Cena and Nikki are the obvious choice, even if they’re both taking time off right after Wrestlemania. If this ends with a Cena proposal, the WWE will have its most talked about Wrestlemania moment in years.

Chris Killian: Zero chance John and Nikki lose despite the fact that Miz & Maryse are far more entertaining. Expecting a post-match proposal for a Wrestlemania first — but I’m secretly hoping Nikki says no, leaving a heart broken John Cena stranded in the ring. Then, Kendra Lust makes the save.

Triple H vs. Seth Rollins

Our Prediction: Seth Rollins (5-1)

Christian Hoffer: If this is an “unsanctioned match,” does this mean that Daniel Bryan will come out to give Triple H a flying headbutt? But seriously, Seth Rollins deserves the win here, as he’s been stuck for months waiting for this match to happen.

Lan Pitts: All I really want is to see the Curb Stomp on Triple H. I won’t get it, but it’s all I want. Rollins will complete his ascension to the light side and become the face that he needs to be. 

Chris Killian: Seth Rollins cements his face turn here and finally gets his retribution against Mr. Helmsley. 

Brandon Gnetz: Look for interference here from Samoa Joe and possibly a returning Finn Balor, but in the end the King gets slayed. 

Matthew Mueller: Seth Rollins completes his Babyface turn at WrestleMania, and conquers Triple H.

Dallas Jackson: ​Triple H will win with assistance. No chance that his ego could handle a clean loss at Mania and no chance they can push Rollins with a clean loss to Triple H. I expect shenanigan​s. 

The Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns

Our Prediction: Roman Reigns (6-0)

Christian Hoffer: It sucks that Roman gets to retire the Undertaker (if the rumors are correct), but maybe this match can fix Roman’s character and start his path towards getting the fans behind him. Two things need to happen in this match: Roman Reigns needs to win and Roman Reigns needs to turn heel. If Roman beats the Undertaker into retirement, maybe he can finally dump the underdog narrative and turn into the badass he actually is.

Dallas Jackson: ​If there is going to be any belief in Roman as a real top dog in the yard he has to beat Taker. I have been vocally opposed to this return of the Dead Man for about six months. He doesnt look the same. Doesnt move the same. Doesnt have the same impact as he once did and if we are ever going to start moving into a new generation of superstars they have to start burying the older guys. Dont care how this happens — clean or with interference — Roman wins. ​

Matthew Mueller: The Undertaker bows with his final WrestleMania match, hoping a slaying of the legend will win over those who doubt in the Roman empire.

Lan Pitts: Please let Taker retire and on good terms. This story isn’t about just the rise of the Roman Empire, but the dedication and the legend of the Undertaker. If they can achieve to make Roman look strong (which really shouldn’t be an issue) and to have Taker bow out gracefully, it should be the most emotional match on the card. 

Brandon Gnetz: There is nothing to gain from Taker winning this match. Even if it’s his final go at the event that made him a legend, every wrestling hero goes out on his sword. It’s what keeps the business moving forward. Roman Reigns was right, it’s his time now. 

Chris Killian: Roman Reigns needs to win this match. The Undertaker just can’t credibly present himself as an unstoppable force anymore, especially against someone like Roman. Everyone in the twitter-verse can tell that Undertaker’s best days are behind him and he needs to put Roman over big time and RIP.

Universal Championship Match: Goldberg (c) vs. Brock Lesnar

Our Prediction: Brock Lesnar (5-0)

Chris Killian: BRRROOOCCCCK LEEEEESSSNAAAR. The Goldberg Nostalgia Tour was fun though.

Brandon Gnetz: The winner of this is obvious. Rumor has it that Taker and Reigns will end the show, which is a very smart decision as the only real question here is what kind of match will we be getting. A Lesnar squash makes the most sense. Goldberg isn’t trying to go to Suplex City. He just can’t take that many bumps at 51. I expect each to kick out of the other’s finisher (which I hate) but Lesnar to come out on top fairly quickly. 

Christian Hoffer: Brock Lesnar sends Goldberg to Suplex City and puts this terrible nostalgia act behind us. Goldberg’s a great dude, but his return has been woefully lackluster.

Lan Pitts: There’s no way they’d let Brock go 3-0 with Goldberg. Goldberg has had his fun and I’m sure he’ll get a Hall of Fame induction eventually, but this should be Lesnar’s last hurrah as well. I’m not thinking a squash match per se, but ole Bill is definitely going down to Suplex City tonight. 

Matt Mueller: It’s been nice Goldberg, but Lesnar destroys the WCW legend. Suplex city is open once more.

Dallas Jackson: Lesnar should be an obvious win here. They can’t keep making Lesnar a squash loser to Goldberg and also making him this unbeatable opponent for everyone else. Goldberg doesnt have the same stuff as before and his time with the strap was fun, but not realistic for future direction.

 

WWE Championship Match: Bray Wyatt (c) vs. Randy Orton

 

Our Prediction: Bray Wyatt (5-1)

Dallas Jackson: ​Bray will retain because Orton as a champ is boring and because it sets up better storylines for later. Look for interference, for sure, and of course Bray kicks out of an RKO…. but, he will win. ​

Christian Hoffer: The smart choice is for Bray Wyatt to win this match and start a proper reign of terror in the WWE. Then again, the “smart choice” has been for Bray to win every one of his big matches, and it hasn’t happened yet. I’m guessing Orton wins and the WWE Universe collectively yawns.

Brandon Gnetz: I think Bray Wyatt retains the championship, but who freakin’ knows how we’re going to get there. We’ve seen Passions soap opera level ridiculousness in the build up to this one and I would hate for that to stop now. I know Randy shoving the crusix into Sister Abigail’s ashes (how many times can we kill her, btw?) took away Bray’s magical powers. I mean, obviously that makes sense, but will he have any powers left at ‘Mania? I believe we’ll see the return of Erick Rowan and Luke Harper to the Wyatt cult here to help Bray retain. 

Lan Pitts: It’s hard to imagine they’d finally give the championship to Bray just to take it away to put it back on Orton who doesn’t really need it at all. So let’s be clear about something: Orton is here to build Bray up. Orton may win the championship one more time to tie himself with Triple H, but the story here is the rise of Bray Wyatt. It’s going to be an interesting match and clashing of styles, but look for the Face of Fear to start making his way through the WWE roster starting now. 

Matt Mueller: They haven’t come this far to just put the belt on Orton, but the feud can’t just end with a match. I predict that this will be the first time fans start to see the coming of Sister Abigail, and Bray walks out the Champ.

Chris Killian: This match absolutely needs to go to Bray. He’s spent the last few Wrestlemanias putting over the Undertakers and the John Cenas. Randy doesn’t need the win or the belt, but Bray needs it to remain a credible force. I also sense the debut of Sister Abigail in some form or another costing Randy the match. 

Side note: This would be an excellent opportunity to bring the Hardys back and pair them with Wyatt to begin a new chapter that hopefully sees him reassert his dominance and be more than a cult-leader loudmouth who can’t back up his ominous threats.
