WWE Announces Draft To Take Place On July 19th Live SmackDown

The careers of the entire WWE roster will be decided live on July 19th, when SmackDown moves to USA Network when the WWE Draft goes once again into effect.

"This is an exciting new era for WWE in which we will yet again reinvent ourselves by creating a second night of compelling live television," said WWE Executive Producer Kevin Dunn to WWE.com.

The Draft will be held by both Stephanie and Shane McMahon, with Shane taking over the SmackDown brand. The Draft was first used 14 years ago and was eventually phased out. With the roster being bigger than ever, especially with the rise of NXT superstars making the move to the main roster, it seems like a logical choice.

No word yet on how the championships will be affected as well. Originally, all champions could defend their title on both shows, but rumors are circulating that there will be a SmackDown exclusive world championship.

"We're already hearing the excitement among WWE fans for SmackDown's new live format, and our audiences are eagerly anticipating the live Draft and what it means for their favorite Superstars," said Chris McCumber, President, Entertainment Networks, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment.

The WWE Universe will have to wait one month to see where their favorite superstars land and who will come out on top in brand supremacy.
