John Cena made a big splash on the most recent episode of Smackdown Live, where he let the WWE universe know that he was ready to challenge the phenomenal one for his championship belt. Cena will go toe to toe with Styles at the Royal Rumble, but a recent live event announcement might give fans a clue as to who walks out the winner.
The WWE Live event will take place in Grand Forks, North Dakota (via SEScoops) on February 4th, 2017. Since the Royal Rumble is on Sunday, January 29th, you might expect for Cena to be advertised for the event, since he was heavily favored to win, being John Cena and all. The video actually advertises a championship match between AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose instead, with James Ellsworth featured as the guest referee.
So far Cena has been unsuccessful in beating Styles, and many saw the upcoming Royal Rumble match as a way to get his win back. If the company decides to keep the belt on Styles, they could always just move Cena into a program with the Undertaker at Wrestlemania, even without the belt as the top prize.
Of course, there have been advertisements depicting one direction and then the WWE decides to go another, so all of this is in flux until the night of the Rumble itself. Vince has been known to make changes until right before showtime, so anything is still possible.
