Daisy Ridley took home Golden Popcorn on her 24th birthday!

Ridley's infectious smile was on full display at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards as she accepted the Breakthrough Performance award for her crowd-pleasing performance in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The moment the film was released, Ridley went from an unknown actress to an overnight sensation, and her character, Rey, a Jakku scavenger-turned-lightsaber-wielding badass, instantly became a fan-favorite and a role model to young women everywhere.

"It feels especially amazing to be part of a film that represents all genders, all races, and all ages in a positive way," Ridley said during her acceptance speech.

Set thirty years after the events of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens picks up the story of a galaxy turned upside-down with the deposition of the evil Empire and the rise of the Rebel Alliance to take its place. With the cruel First Order rising to fill the void left by the Empire's destruction and the Resistance dedicated to eradicating their influence, heroes Finn and Rey will need to stop the villainous Kylo Ren and the First Order from assuming total control of the galaxy, with the help of old heroes Han Solo and Leia Organa.
