The never-ending marketing push for the Deadpool move has struck again. Twentieth Century Fox has released a new promotional video the film's impending release in Japan.
The video has Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) standing in front of green screen made to look like a Japanese street. He brings up what is apparently a Deadpool impersonator that has been roaming the streets of Japanese cities. Deadpool makes clear that the impersonator is not the "real" Deadpool or the real actor who plays Deadpool, but implies that it may actually be Hugh Jackman (carrying over a running gag from the actual movie), and warns Japanese citizens that if they punch the Deadpool impersonator in the nuts that they may be punching one of their own.
Deadpool has already earned over $763 million worldwide to become the highest grossing R-rated film of all time.
Based upon Marvel Comics' most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
Deadpool is directed by Tim Miller, with a screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T. J. Miller, Gina Carano, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapičić, and Leslie Uggams.
Deadpool releases in Japanese theaters on June 1, and is available now on Digital HD, DVD, and Blu-ray in North America.
