Fans of any vaunted franchise or series know that authenticity matters when purchasing a collectible for display. The smallest extra detail or accessory can take something from good to great, and when you're spending hundreds to thousands of dollars on it, every extra piece of craftsmanship is more than appreciated.
That's the thought behind the Star Wars Collectibles Ultimate Studio Edition line. Props from this exclusive line are made to order by the actual prop makers themselves Propshop, located at Pinewood Studios, where digital scans from the films are used to recreate each piece.
James Enright, Assets Director and CEO of Propshop, gave some insight into the line's goal and motivation, saying: "We're delighted to be able to produce such a groundbreaking line of merchandise. Designed, made and finished by the hands of specialist motion picture prop makers and artists, we've worked extremely hard to create something that we know would make fans and filmmakers proud."
The launch selection includes eight distinct products from Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, including Darth Vader's melted helmet, Chewbacca's Bowcaster, Rey's Staff, and more. Each product will come with a custom display pedestal along with a custom built shipping crate that mirrors the actual crates props from the movie are shipped in.
Josh Silverman, Executive Vice President of Global Licensing at Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media, said: "We are continually looking for new ways to extend the storytelling from movies in innovative ways," said Josh Silverman, executive vice president of global licensing at Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media. "We've worked hand in hand with the film makers and talented team at Propshop to create a unique product experience for fans and we're excited to see their reactions to these incredible prop replicas."
