Former Cougar Town actor Ian Gomez has been cast in the recurring role of Snapper Carr in the second season of Supergirl.

Carr is described as "a headstrong, sharp-witted newsman, hired by Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) to be the editor-in-chief ofCatCo Magazine. Snapper's commitment to hard-hitting journalism pushes CatCo reporters to dig deeper in the pursuit of excellence. He's a man who tells people what he thinks of them, and his no-holds-barred approach pushes Kara (Melissa Benoist) in unexpected ways. (In the comics, Snapper Carr was a supporting civilian Justice League character.)"

In addition to Cougar Town, Gomez has also played roles on The Real O'Neals and Felicity. He'll make his Supergirl debut in the second episode of the show's second season. He'll join fellow newcomers Lynda Carter, the former Wonder Woman star, as the president of the United States and Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent/Superman.

Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El/Kara Danvers/Supergirl, Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen, Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winn Schott, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw and J'onn J'onzz/the Martian Manhunter, and Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant. The series was developed by Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler, and Andrew Kreisberg.

Supergirl is moving from CBS to the CW for its second season. It will fully join the shared TV universe of Arrow, The Flash, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow when it is featured as part of the four-part crossover this season.

Supergirl Season 2 premieres on Monday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
