Marvel's Jessica Jones & Daredevil Earn Emmy Nominations

On Thursday, the 2016 Emmy Award nominees were announced, and like usual, comic book-based television series were shut out of all of the major categories. On the bright-side, Marvel's Jessica Jones and Daredevil (Season 2), which are both streamed on Netflix, received two nominations apiece.

Jessica Jones' composer Sean P. Callery is nominated for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music and is competing with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend's Rachel Bloom and Adam Schlesinger, Narcos' Rodrigo Amarante, The Night Manager's Victor Reyes, Sense8's Johnny Klimek and Tom Tykwer, and The Whispers' Robert Duncan. Its other nomination went to its creative team (Michelle Dougherty, Arisu Kashiwagi, Rod Basham, David Mack, Eric Demeusy, and Thomas McMahan) for Outstanding Main Title Design and will go up against the creative teams from The Man In The High Castle, Narcos, The Night Manager, and Vinyl.

Daredevil's sound team (Lauren Stephens, Jordan Wilby, Jonathan Golodner, Christian Buenaventura, Greg Vines, Zane Bruce, and Lindsay Pepper), based on the "New York's Finest" episode, is nominated for Outstanding Sound Editing For A Series. The other shows in the category include: Gotham, Game of Thrones, Vikings, and Black Sails. As for the show's second nomination, Stunt Coordinator Philip J. Silvera is nominated for Outstanding Stunt Coordination For A Drama Series, Limited Series Or Movie and will go head-to-head with stunt coordinators from Gotham, Game of Thrones, The Blacklist, and Rush Hour.

The 2016 Emmy Awards will take place on Sunday, September 18 and air live on NBC.
