Harrison Ford's legendary career has inspired generations of actors, and his appearance in Star Wars: The Force Awakens only proved his timelessness. However, according to lawyers investigating the Star Wars accident that injured the actor, Ford's career might have ended tragically in 2014. According to a report by The Guardian, Ford was lucky to have made it out of the accident alive.

While reprising his role as Han Solo for The Force Awakens, Ford was forced onto the ground by a malfunctioning hydraulic door that crushed him beneath its weight. The door led into the Millennium Falcon, Solo's flagship, and was said to have weighed as much as a small car. Somehow, the actor survived the incident though he did sustain critical injuries like a broken leg.

Foogle Production was the production company primarily overseeing The Force Awakens, and the company was taken to court by the Health and Safety Executive for the incident. Four charges were brought against Foogle, and the company has now pleaded guilty to two of those breaches. Still, prosecutors are stressing those breaches caused "a risk of death" and that Ford would've likely been fatally injured if an emergency stop hadn't been used. "It could have killed somebody. The fact that it didn't was because an emergency stop was activated," prosecutor Andrew Marshall explained.

Ford, who hasn't indicated he'll be taking legal measures of his own against Foogle, recounted the horrific accident on Jonathan Ross' late-night UK talk-show. The actor said that the set's hydraulics had improved significantly since the original Star Wars trilogy was filmed. But, still, improvements don't always guarantee safety.

Ford said, "Now we had lots of money and technology and so they built a f——g great hydraulic door which closed at light speed and somebody said, 'Ooh I wonder what this is? And the door came down and hit me on my left hip because I was turned to my right. And then it flung my left leg up and it dislocated my ankle and as it drove me down to the floor, my legs slapped on the ramp up to the Millennium Falcon and broke both bones in my left leg."
