Playing the part of Charles Xavier is old hat for the talented Patrick Stewart, but the actor does see an end coming for his take on the character.

That end will most likely culminate with the upcoming Wolverine 3, which doesn't have an official title yet. Many believe it to be a take on the popular Old Man Logan series, but that is still all conjecture at this point. Stewart has already been seen on set, but he was looking quite distressed, and not like the calm and collected Xavier we've seen in previous X-Men films.

After Wolverine 3 though, Stewart doesn't foresee another reprisal of the X-Men monarch, but he did leave a small window open just in case (via itv.com)

"I would imagine this is probably the end of this franchise for me. But the thing about science fiction and fantasy is that you can never, ever say it's the end, it's over."

While he is reprising a familiar role, Stewart went on to say that this version of the character is not the one you've come to know from previous movies.

"A very different Charles Xavier, that's all I'm allowed to say. Nothing like the Charles Xavier you've seen in the past."

Wolverine 3 will also be the last outing for Hugh Jackman, at least as it stands now. The character had a cameo in the recent X-Men: Apocalypse, but after 5 major films and multiple side appearances, the actor is ready to move on from the character.

Wolverine 3 is slated to hit theaters on March 3rd, 2017.
