Pow! Zap! Congrats! Let's all give Stan Lee a big round of applause. The legendary comic creator just received his first honorary degree ever from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. So, you can call him Dr. Lee if you'd like.

The honorary doctorate was given to Lee during the inauguration ceremony for President David Yager to the university. While Lee couldn't be at the even in person to accept his hood and certificate, he did appear via video where he spoke with students about his career and their creative futures.

"It is truly a wonderful honor to receive this doctorate of fine arts degree. Thank you to all the good people at the University of the Arts. Excelsior!" Lee cheered.

Of course, the creator's words would be encouraging ones for art students to hear. After all, the iconic writer created mainstay superheroes such as Spider-Man, Iron Man, and more. His work on series like Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk, and X-Men solidified his stellar reputation, and Lee has since become a comic book icon.

President Yager was more than proud to award Lee with his first honorary degree. "It was such an honor to bestow this honorary doctorate on a man who has made an indelible mark on our society," he said. "Stan is a remarkable example for our young people of how artistic expression can flourish through a dogged pursuit of your passions and your vision, a commitment to excellence, and an understanding of the intersection of business and the arts," he said.

This is one of several recent gifts that Lee has received this year. Earlier this summer, the creator attended an event in Los Angeles that declared October 28th to be Stan Lee Day in the city. Kansas City also gifted the writer with his very own holiday to Lee's befuddled delight.

When it comes to the writer's West Coast honor, Lee was in for a double-whammy. His longtime Comikaze Expo was also officially renamed in his honor as it took on the title, 'Stan Lee's Los Angeles Comic Con.' The convention will take place later this month from October 28-30.
