While stories about star athletes getting custom shoes for big games are a common story in sports news, a new story out of Wales has a slightly different twist. Rugby official Nigel Owens received a specialized pair of Underarmor cleats to wear while officiating today's Champions Cup final. The shoes have a Batman theme with pictures of the Dark Knight and various comic effects, as well as the Welsh flag on its side.

Owens is a celebrity in the world of rugby, having refereed some of rugby's biggest matches multiple times. The celebrated referee has officiated the most international matches of any rugby referee and is also a television personality on Welsh television. Owens is also openly gay, and has spoke often about the challenges of being LGBT while working in a sport like rugby.

The Champions Cup is the biggest tournament for club rugby teams. This year's final pits French club Racing 92 against English team Saracens.
