Wonder Woman SDCC 2016

With studios gearing up for San Diego Comic Con later next month, fans are starting to speculate which films may make a surprise appearance at the convention. And, with DC Entertainment already promising an epic line-up of announcements, fans are thinking they might get a sneak-peak of Wonder Woman.

When it comes to Wonder Woman, perhaps there's no bigger fan of the heroine than DC Entertainment itself. On the heel's of the Amazonian's 75th birthday, the company has spoken openly about its desire to honor Wonder Woman. In a recent interview with PEOPLE, DC Entertainment President Diane Nelson praised the character's resurgence by saying that, "there's no better time than now," to introduce moviegoers to Wonder Woman.

Diane Nelsen went on to speak specifically about the upcoming Wonder Woman film which wrapped earlier this year as she said the movie, "will have its own tone and look – it's beautiful. There is humor in it, there is real emotion in Diana's journey in discovering the complexity of man."

And, with DC Entertainment now prepping for SDCC, it would make perfect sense for the company to tease fans with a trailer for the film. Wonder Woman finished filming in Europe this spring, so the studio undoutably has enough content that they could bring to fans. A Wonder Woman teaser would also bolster DC Entertainment's hyped presentation as they're promising tons of Suicide Squad exclusives, and with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice receving mix reviews when it hit theaters earlier this year, the company might be looking to reassure fans that their next films definitely won't disappoint. DC Entertainment has already aired a brief clip of the film during a special on the CW, but fans are hoping they might get a longer, better look at the hero at the upcoming convention.

Right now, the only confirmed Wonder Woman appearances will have at SDCC are in some exclusive merchandise and an anniversary panel that'll celebrate the hero's historic run. While that panel won't be large enough to hold Hall H, similar panels have been hosted before by DC Entertainment for Superman's 75th birthday and featured guests like Jack Larson and Grant Morrison. So, who knows? Perhaps Lynda Carter or Gal Gadot may cameo at the panel if fans are lucky.

For now, though, fans can only anticipate what they might see at SDCC until the convention gets under way in San Diego from July 21-24.
