We're just a few days away from seeing the return of Peter Parker in action with Spider-Man: Homecoming, which promises to be the best movie in the franchise since Tobey Maguire laced up the Spidey tights for Spider-Man 2 back in 2004. But you don't have to wait that long to see the web-slinger in action – in fact, you now have the opportunity to be the web-slinger.

As we noted earlier in the month, the free Spider-Man: Homecoming VR Experience is now available, not only for PlayStation VR, but also HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. It puts you in the shoes of Peter Parker and lets you fling webs like a madman, using Spidey's abilities to save the day – if you can.

Though not a full-on Spidey experience like Insomniac Games' forthcoming Spider-Man title for PlayStation 4, Homecoming provides a number of mini-games that you can get through with the web-slinger. You'll also have to deal with The Vulture, who serves as the main bad guy in the forthcoming film, portrayed by Michael Keaton.

Per the press release, in this VR experience we'll learn the ins and outs of the fancy new Spider-Man suit provided by Tony Stark and Stark Industries. We'll have to master various types of web shots in order to complete fast-paced targeting trials. From the look of the trailer, and from the sound of the press release, this VR experience will be more focused on web-slinging than web-swinging. Taking prolonged drops, hurdling toward the city streets and swinging from building to building in VR sounds like it could definitely cost us our lunch, so this might be a little more appropriate.

Again, the Homecoming Experience is completely free, so it certainly doesn't hurt to give it a download and see what it's all about, especially if you've been looking for a superhero fix on your PlayStation VR after beating the crud out of Batman: Arkham VR. And it'll totally get you jazzed for the movie's release when it arrives this Thursday night, ahead of what will likely be a big box-office weekend for it. Go on and do whatever a Spidey can!
